Cancelled fights? Know your rights!

Have you been affected by the Ryanair crisis or the Monarch collapse?
If so, the answers to many of the questions you may have are to be found in Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 February 2004 establishing common rules on compensation and assistance to passengers in the event of denied boarding and of cancellation or long delay of flights, and repealing Regulation (EEC) No 295/91. We’ll just call it ‘the Regulation’.
Under the Regulation, if your flight is cancelled, you will be entitled to either:
· a full refund, or
· a replacement flight to get you to your destination
In addition, you may be entitled to compensation if any replacement flight delays your arrival at your intended destination by two or more hours.
The level of compensation will be dependent on a number of factors, including the distance of the flight and the amount of notice given to you by the airline, which may even suffice to negate your claim.
